"Hip-hop is supposed to uplift and create, to educate people on a larger level and to make a change." This quote by one of Hip-Hop's pioneers, Doug E. Fresh, describes Ohio's own, BIG J a.k.a. Tha White Wonder. Raised on Toledo's north side, he was heavily influenced by his surroundings. Growing up in a lower class family he often used writing as an escape from his reality. With a writing style that has been compared to the east coast rappers he grew up listening to, Nas, Jadakiss, and Jay-Z, it makes it easy for listeners who appreciate wordplay to respect his talents. His music creates a common ground for people from every walk of life to relate to, from the average working class to the unemployed striving to survive. In an industry where being different is looked down upon, BIG J looks to create music that will inspire change.
